At Boavida Gundogs and Wingshooting we base all of our training on the German Hunting Tests as set out by the JGHV. This follows through in all of our training packages, courses, seminars, and workshops.
Gundog training is a vital step in getting your dog ready for the field. But often time, space, equipment, and facilities are a problem to get the most out of your gundog. That is where we step in. On our 650 hectare world-class facility, we have all the necessary requirements to get your dog up to speed; from raised pigeons, to wild Spurfowl, Francolin, and Guineafowl, numerous dams, open fields, state of the art kennels, and experienced trainers. Our goal is always to turn you and your dog into a hunting team, ready for the hunting field.

Board and Train
The boarding school for dogs! The concept borne by Matthew Berry involves your dog coming to live with us for a while. During this time they will receive focused, result orientated training programs based on their developmental and behavioural needs, no matter the breed.
We are set in the heart of the Cradle Of Humankind on our 650 hectare property. Here your dog will receive the care, attention, training and open spaces it will thrive in.
Your dog will feel at home in our kennels which were previously used as stables for a horse stud farm, providing ample space for leg stretches when they are not being taken for a walk or trained.

Training Packages
Our training packages are designed to be all encompassing courses with the aim of producing top quality working dogs that conform to the breed and working standards set out by the JGHV (German hunt test system) and SAVHDA. We endeavour to get you and your puppy to the various levels in the SAVHDA Tests and prepare you for your hunting life together as a hunting team.

Workshops and Seminars
Throughout the year we run a number of seminars and workshops for new and experienced handlers. The Boavida grounds plays host to these events, but some specialist ones are held off-site. The type of seminars and workshops we offer include: puppy seminars, SAVHDA test demonstration, snake awareness, disciplined retrieve, and many more.
We present many of these ourselves; but will often get both local and international guests in that are experts in their various fields. Click below to see the events schedule for the year.

Blood Tracking
We have trained a number of blood tracking dogs that now operate throughout Southern Africa. We offer blood tracking training as an additional add-on to all of our gundog training for the owners that are interested; after all most of our dogs are versatile gundogs.
Blood tracking training is one of the few courses we offer on its own. If you are looking to train your dog to do blood tracking, feel free to get in touch with us, and we can setup an assessment and a training program from there.
